One of the most common questions we are asked at Seton Home Study School is whether lesson plans are necessary to teach Kindergarten.

While it is possible to teach Kindergarten without them, lesson plans offer invaluable guidance and structure. This is perfectly illustrated by the thirty fun and engaging projects included in our new Kindergarten Art and Poetry course.

Poetry in Early Learning

Familiarity with poetry is a vital part of a young learner’s growth.

Poetry helps children recognize rhythm and rhyme while teaching them critical pre-reading skills such as inflection and pitch. These foundational abilities pave the way for more advanced language and literacy development.

Each lesson in the course pairs a classic poem with a famous painting, creating a rich, multisensory experience for the student. The lesson plans provide helpful background information on each artwork and poem, adding depth to the activities. Additionally, every lesson includes:

• Finger-play games to engage motor skills
• Simple craft projects that bring the concepts to life

Seton Home Study School offers year-round enrollment so that you can begin this transformative journey anytime. Our Kindergarten courses, including the Art & Poetry course, are designed with flexibility in mind.

Families have up to two years to complete the curriculum, accommodating a variety of schedules and learning paces.

If purchased separately, the Art & Poetry course costs $40.00. Full Kindergarten enrollment costs $275.00.

Whether enrolling in a single course or the entire grade level, you receive books, lesson plans, and counseling services.
