In Walt Disney’s Mulan, Mulan’s mother and grandmother took her to the town matchmaker to be inspected for “husband worthiness.” Mulan failed the test with flying colors, and was told that she would never be a bride nor bring honor to her family.
Discouraged and dejected, she returned home and then broke out into a beautiful song entitled Reflection, in which she sings the following words:
Who is that girl I see staring straight back at me?
Why is my reflection someone I don’t know?
Somehow I cannot hide who I am, though I’ve tried.
When will my reflection show who I am inside?
What about you? Does your outward reflection show to others who you really are? If not, why?
